Today’s gas fireplaces are built for efficiency. Just like a gas furnace, a fireplace has a rating in terms of BTU. Logs in propane fireplaces and natural gas fireplaces are without peer, to know they are imitations requires holding them. Patio fireplaces and backyard outdoor gas fireplaces are common in sizes from 12 inches to 42 inches. They are also convenient to operate. They all can be operated with an optional remote control and models are available that can be used with a wall thermostat.
Gas fireplaces are available in either vented or ventless models. Vented models use either a traditional chimney/flue or else a purpose-built vent pipe, while ventless models would be more accurately termed “room-vented”. These kinds of gas fireplaces are the most flexible, and they can include gas logs (gas fireplace inserts ) as well as wall fixtures or complete fireplace inserts as a retrofit for your old-fashioned wood-burning fireplace.
